If you lose a case in a trial court, you should consult an experienced appellate attorney as soon as possible to discuss the appeals process and get a case evaluation.

If you win a case in a trial court and the other party appeals, you should consult an experienced appellate attorney as soon as possible to prepare to defend the appeal and preserve your win.

Karin is a member of the Executive Committee of the Toledo Women’s Bar Association, the Appellate Committee of the Toledo Bar Association, the Lucas County Bar Association, and the Sandusky County Bar Association.  She is a past president of the Toledo Junior Bar Association.

Before starting her own practice, Karin was a staff attorney at the Ohio Sixth District Court of Appeals for Judge William J. Skow.  Karin also served as a staff attorney to Judge Peter Handwork and, while she was in law school, as an intern to Judge Arlene Singer.  After Judge Skow’s untimely passing, she served as staff attorney to eight visiting judges.  As a staff attorney, Karin drafted hundreds of appellate decisions for the many judges she served.

As a full-time appellate researcher and writer, Karin has the experience to spot emerging issues in evolving areas of law as well as the technical skill to ensure your case is strongly supported.  Years of working closely with appellate judges and trial judges has given Karin insight into “how a court thinks” and can give you a more objective perspective on persuasive arguments and rhetoric to employ in attempting to win your case.

Karin provides a free initial consultation and case evaluation to each prospective client.  Karin offers reasonable hourly rates and also flat fees, when possible, to minimize the expense to her clients.
